A fish farm operator hopes to create 100 new jobs in an £80m expansion of its Scottish operation.

Norway-based Marine Harvest already runs 38 farms in Scotland, supporting about 460 jobs.

Chairman Ole-Eirik Leroy said: “With people eating more salmon and the need to sustainably increase our production, we believe that further investment in Scotland is good for our business and the Scottish economy, the communities where we operate and our consumers.” Marine Harvest recently opened two new sites in the Western Isles on Barra and South Uist, employing 11 staff in total.
